Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition in Kenya
A study conducted by the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) in 2007-2010, indicated poor infant and young child feeding practices. Only 2% of mothers were practising exclusive breastfeeding. Malnutrition was also high with stunting at close to 50%.
To change this narrative, APHRC implemented the Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) project in two Nairobi slums between 2012 and 2015. Hundreds of families and community health workers benefited from this project.
